Register & Vote in One Stop

During Early Voting (April 28-May 14), you can register and vote in one stop:


Any NC Voter may request a vote-by-mail (absentee) ballot. No special reason is necessary. Here are the steps:

  • Request an absentee ballot online. (You can also request one using a paper form.)

  • Ballots will be mailed starting March 28.

  • The last date to request an absentee ballot is May 10 by 5pm (but in all honesty, that's cutting it *really* close).

  • Return your ballot by May 17 at 5 pm. Ballots will be accepted if they are

    • Dropped off at the Board of Elections by 5 pm​.

    • Postmarked by 5 pm on May 17 and received by May 20.

Early Voting
April 28 - May 14

Early Voting begins Thursday, April 28 and continues until Saturday, May 14.

  • During Early Voting, you can register (or re-register at your current address) and vote at the same time.

  • Orange County voters can vote at any of the 5 Early Voting Location in Orange County:

    • Carrboro Town Hall Complex: 108 Bim St, Carrboro

    • Chapel of the Cross: 304 E Franklin St, Chapel Hill

    • Seymour Senior Center: 2551 Homestead Rd, Chapel Hill

    • Orange Works: 113 Mayo St, Hillsborough

    • Efland Ruritan Club: 3009 Forrest Avenue, Efland

  • Here are the hours and dates of Early Voting:

    • April 28-29 (Thurs-Fri): 8 am to 7:30 pm​

    • April 30 (Sat): CLOSED

    • May 1 (Sun): 12 pm to 4 pm

    • May 2-6 (Mon-Fri): 8 am to 7:30 pm

    • May 7 (Sat): 8 am to 3 pm

    • May 8 (Sun): CLOSED

    • May 9-13 (Mon-Fri): 8 am to 7:30 pm

    • May 14 (Sat): 8 am to 3 pm
